This year's Easter cakes were such a success! I am thrilled to have a full night (or two ) of cakes ahead of me and very, very thankful that I am able to do what I love. This lemon berry cake is always a favorite and I can't think of a better time to share a slice than around your Easter table. It is just pure sunshine in a bite!

Thanks, again. to everyone who ordered a cake and I can't wait to show off the other flavors.

Happy Easter!

Stay tuned for our Easter menu set to be released very soon! I hope you get to find something sweet to share with all of those who mean the most!

It had been a little while since I had made a large batch of macarons and I was definitely crossing my fingers when I made these. Thankfully they came out wonderfully and I got to share them with my boy's best friend, Jack, at his 5th birthday party this weekend. I even added some Star Wars details to them because that seems to be a requirement for any 5 year old's party these days. Happy birthday, Jack!

I couldn't be more excited to share some of the incredible images from Dana Fernandez Photography of a recent wedding I got to be a part of that are currently featured on Martha Stewart Weddings! Never in my wildest dreams did I think that opportunities like this would come my way and I am so honored to be included alongside the industry's finest.

Atalia and Raul are every bit as lovely as they appear in these images and I am so very thankful that they chose me to be a part of their special day. They have more style in their pinky fingers than I will ever have and seeing how brilliantly they tied in their strong Latin roots really made my heart sing. They really know how to throw a party!

Just a little preview of a styled shoot that I was lucky enough to be a part of earlier this week. Lots of great work was brought to the table and I can't wait to see how Morgan captured it all!

It was such a great experience to be a part of this high-drama shoot centered around Blome's Paperie's debut of an intricate and exquisite paper dress. Yes, you read that right. She crafted a couture style gown 100% made of paper and along with the help of lots of other talented vendors this gorgeous shoot was made possible. I'm so excited for her and thrilled that her labor of love is highlighted in such a beautiful way.

I personally love really warm shots and think that when desserts have that "reception glow" that they look so dreamy and romantic. She wanted a spread that looked abundantly luxurious and I think we were able to create just that. I know I wouldn't mind diving into that dessert bar!

This wedding was a dream come true to be part of and I feel like I was able to cross off half of my bucket list in one fell swoop. It really was THAT magical!

With Kat from Mustard Seed Photography capturing the day and jaw-dropping florals from Without Wax, Katy it was such a special moment for my little bakery to be tied in with such talented women. Jennifer Laura Design was the mastermind behind the event and it was incredible. I kept telling my husband (who always helps me set up) that I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. Every single detail was absolutely perfect and truly a sight...

Not only do I love this little girl with every single bit of my heart, but I couldn't be more proud of the friendships she has made in her seven short years. She has a light inside of her that shines on all of us and I am so blessed to be her Mommy. We had a house full of screaming first graders last night and I loved every second of it! Thanks for being my sidekick and my #1, Emma. I love you all the way to the moon and past the stars and past Mars and back!

Happy birthday!

Just a little preview of the sweetest spread that I whipped up for sweet Florence's first birthday party. Can't wait to see the rest of the pictures that her endlessly talented mommy, Nathalie Bearden, took of her special day!

It's definitely safe to say that this picture of Florence digging into her birthday cupcakes is the absolute cutest thing I have ever seen!

A former bride contacted me asking to come up with a small spread for a baby sprinkle she was hosting for a friend. Truth be told, I had know idea what a baby sprinkle was and had to google it! I then fell in love with the idea of a small but thoughtful gathering to celebrate a new baby.

Since it was going to be a small party we decided on a few macarons, mini champagne cupcakes and a trio of baby cakes. After the sweets were dolled up with gold calligraphy and fresh flowers they looked adorable and I couldn't have been happier with how they turned out. The "bebe" topper was inspired by a Martha Stewart hanging display I spotted years ago and it was the first thing that came to mind for these sweet cakes. I think it gave them just the right amount of flair without being over the...

It's not every day that a soon-to-be grandma calls you begging to squeeze a few extra cakes into your already overbooked weekend. To be honest, I don't think she would have taken no for an answer! I'm so happy I was able to create these cakes for her sweet daughter and new little girl on the way!

I met with Jack and Kat a few months ago for a tasting and fell in love with them almost immediately. There is a warmth and kindess to them that you don't see every day. Their true love for the Lord shines through them and it was inspiring. It was a great honor to be a part of their big day and I hope that they enjoyed digging into the cakes as much as I enjoyed making them.

This sweet little vanilla bean cake adorned with the prettiest (and tastiest!) piped rosettes is the perfect way to celebrate a small and intimate wedding celebration. More and more couples are opting for smaller cutting cakes to share with those who mean the most and I just love being a part of that special moment.

Congrats to the happy newlyweds!

I was lucky enough to have a couple approach me for their wedding cake after seeing my feature in Houston Brides magazine. Not only do I love the elegant simplicity of that cake but I was also so pleased that we decided on our signature champagne cake with a rosemary twist. Instead of our standard champagne cream and raspberry filling that has become such a favorite around here, I incorporated lots of fresh rosemary and then finished it off with a rich mascarpone buttercream. The rosemary and juicy fresh raspberries brightened every single bite of the cake and now it's definitely one of my favorite flavor pairings!

Another year, another chocolate cake for the best Dad around. Love you so much and I'm so proud to be your daughter. I don't think I would have had the courage to start my own business and put in the early mornings and late nights if you had not shown such a wonderful example of hard work and determination. Love you and so glad you liked your cake!

Who doesn't love a deliciously moist lemon cake filled with a light and bright lemon curd filling and frosted with a smooth and perfectly torched meringue? It's basically sunshine in a bite!

I couldn't be happier that a recent bride decided on this combination for the cutting cake at her upcoming garden wedding and think it is going to be such a showstopper!

I am a huge believer that things are prettiest when we keep them simple and look to nature to provide it's effortless beauty. When I bake, I always use the freshest ingredients and love when I get to use them to decorate the finished product. During tastings it's a chance for me to provide a small glimpse of what I can provide and I love the look on couple's faces when I open the box and they get to see their unique pairings for the first time. For me, nothing is more rewarding than creating something that not only looks delicious, but tastes even better. We eat first with our eyes, after all!

I made this golden beauty a few months ago for one of Dana Fernandez's 1:1 mentoring sessions and it turned out absolutely gorgeous. I love the clean style of the cake with the simple, yet striking gold leaf detail. The imperfect nature of the gold-leaf application is my favorite way to incorporate the trend and think that it adds such an unexpected twist while still remaining elegant.

You can see more of the shoot on Dana's blog here.

This darling cake is heading to Lafayette for my husband's cousin's 21st birthday party tonight. I really doubt there will be any crumbs left. It's a champagne cake with champagne cream and fresh raspberry filling bottom tier and a chocolate top tier. So yummy and perfect for celebrating this big day!

Today was a good one. I've been lucky enough to be a part of some really special, incredibly beautiful, styled shoots this year and today's really made me think about how awesome it is that we can come together to create something spectacular. I'm in love with every single detail of this shoot and can't wait till it goes live. I couldn't help but snap 100 pictures of the bouquet, the florals just blew me away!

Hurry, hurry!

With only a few days left until Easter make sure you stop by Jane and John Dough Bakery in Tomball to scoop up one of these holiday 6-packs! They are absolutely perfect for gifting and I can't think of a single teacher, kindergartner, Nana or best friend that wouldn't be thrilled to find these in their Easter basket. Trust me, they got two thumbs way up!

I was lucky enough to be a part of this super sweet surprise engagement over the weekend. My buddy Dana Fernandez helped the groom, her nephew, pull together all the right special touches to make sure that her day would be extra special. Dana was able to capture the sweetest moments and I'm giddy over what a special gift these photos will be for the happy couple.

I made these custom gold painted macarons with various sayings to mark the occasion and think they turned out so cute. Thanks for the inspiration and the opportunity to be a part of this big moment, Dana!

Lindsay and Joel held their wedding at Olde Dobbin Station and brought together some of my favorite vendors to make their day truly special. The couple wanted a dessert spread that consisted of a large variety of different options and I love how it all came together. Jody of The Moss and Rose added the florals to the wedding cake, Two Be Wed did an incredible job styling and these images captured by Christa Elyce Photography are just perfect. So in love with every single detail!

Last year I was asked to make a cake for the Develop Retreat styled by Two Be Wed. When I said yes, I really didn't understand what that really encompassed. You can imagine my surprise when I found out that Sarah MacKenzie would be delivering me the most incredible images and that an entire workshop full of amazing photographers jwould be spending time styling and photographing my work. Total dream come true!

Maria of Maxit Floral Design blew me away when I saw her setting up. She has such a great eye for color, texture and scale. As you can see, her many years of industry expertise allow for her to always...

I jumped at the chance to contribute to The Fusion Workshop taught by Dana Fernandez and Jenna McElroy. Not only is it a dream to get one film photographer to shoot one of my cakes, but to have an entire workshop snapping away and capturing my work is just over the top amazing. The shoot was styled by Ashley Joseph of Two Be Wed and I think she totally knocked it out of the park.

I was a little nervous about free-handing the painted flowers so I made sure to do my research. I definitely spent some time next to my 6 year old artist borrowing her paints and asking for advice :)

I studied the...

Dana Fernandez Photography - Buttercup Christmas Desserts-19.jpg

Over the holidays I was lucky enough to convince Dana Fernandez to photograph her holiday order and when I got the images back it was like Christmas all over again. Maybe even better if I'm being totally honest. I totally melt over film images and I am definitely going to be using these year after year.

Thank you, Dana!

Desserts featured are cinnamon apple cranberry cake, peppermint bark brownies and layered pavlova with whipped dark chocolate ganache and fresh berries.

Today's order was a combination of both pretty and delicious. My customer chose rich flavors that we complemented with touches of gold and girly details.

The macarons are filled with a creme brulee filling that consists of a torched, sugar-crusted custard that gives that same caramelized flavor and crunchy texture that makes the dessert so special.

For the cake she decided on vanilla with a champagne cream and strawberry compote filling. Yum!

Buttercup Bakery-2.jpg

When I opened my inbox to find these beauties I immediately started jumping for joy and counting my blessings that I get to work with the most talented ladies around. Sarah McKenzie was kind enough to snap some pictures of part of her holiday order and they are every bit as dreamy and lovely and perfect as I thought they would be.

Thank you, Sarah!

Today I sent some of the prettiest cakes to come out of my kitchen to a shoot with Heather Benge Events. I'm so excited to see how it all comes together because Elisheva Golani is the genius behind the lens and I know that every image she captures is going to be pure magic.

I am so proud of this little cake and just love how it turned out. My customer was throwing a southwestern themed first birthday for her little man and wanted a plum ombre smash cake. She wanted something special for the topper so I made a headdress to match the watercolor feathers on the party invitations. Since it needed a little something extra I added some gold leaf detail to the tips and tied it together with a blue velvet ribbon. Happy Birthday, little Huey!

Last weekend I made this lemon cake with lemon curd and fresh blueberry filling and I just love how it turned out. My customer wanted something pretty and fresh (and delicious!) and I think we achieved just that.

Just before Christmas I was able to cater the Tinsel and Tables Workshop for Christina Leigh Events. It was held at the gorgeous Over the Top Linens studio and photographed by Jessica of Ever and Anon Photography.

The workshop provided me with the perfect chance to showcase some of my holiday menu and meet some of the nicest gals. Thankfully everyone loved the treats I prepared and I can't wait to unroll next year's holiday lineup. Christina really knows how to organize an event and her attention to detail truly is unmatched. And what's most amazing to me is that she somehow manages to do it all with such...

I simply cannot put into words what a dream it was to see my cake IN PRINT in the January issue of Houston Brides Magazine!

When editor, Evan Wetmore, contacted me months back to create a cake for their newest issue I jumped at the opportunity. She was so lovely, as was photographer, Kelli, of Kelli Elizabeth Photography. They are truly professionals and working with them was easy and so fun. We chatted a bit and watched Kelli's cute pup, Buddy, run around through the trees of the park. He's a doll, let me tell you.

After the shoot I waited on pins and needles for the issue to be released and never could have imagined that...

A few months ago I was asked to make a few pies and smash cakes to celebrate the first birthdays of the ever-so-talented Courtney Leigh Brown's twin girls. We came up with some real crowd-pleasing flavors and I am so glad that I got to be a part of this special day for her darling little ones. My girl and I dropped off the order bright and early at her family's picturesque farmhouse in Montgomery and we left just completely smitten with her warm and friendly family. The morning dew, cows grazing and slow country roads were icing on the cake at that point.

There were so many creative people involved and to see the party come together in the way that it did was really something special. Courtney's vision and photos...
